For half a century, Storer Motors has been part of the fabric of New Brighton. Long before

"customer experience" was a buzzword, this was a business built on something simpler:

knowing your customers by name, standing behind your work, and being the kind of place locals could trust without a second thought.

How It All Started for Storer Motors

Fifty years ago, Storer Motors opened its doors in New Brighton with a straightforward goal to help local people get into reliable cars and keep them running well. Christchurch looked different back then, New Brighton looked different, and the cars on the road certainly looked different. But the core idea never changed. Good vehicles, honest advice, and a workshop you could rely on.

Over the decades, that reputation has been built one customer at a time. Word of mouth still

carries weight in a place like New Brighton, and much of Storer Motors' growth has come from customers sending along their friends, their kids, and eventually their grandkids!

A Business That's Grown With the Community

New Brighton has changed a lot over 50 years, and Storer Motors has changed with it, without losing what made it work in the first place. The workshop has kept pace with the times, from a rolling road for accurate WOF checks to a modern wheel alignment machine and up-to-date diagnostic equipment. The cars have changed too, and today's workshop team is just as comfortable servicing a brand-new model as they are working on something a bit older and more classic.

What hasn't changed is the approach. Every customer still gets treated like a person, not a

transaction. Every car still gets a proper valet before it goes back out the door. And the team still takes the time to explain what's going on with your vehicle, rather than just handing over a bill.

Five Decades of Customers

There's something to be said for a business that's still standing after 50 years in the same

community. It means generations of Christchurch families have bought their cars here, had them serviced here, and trusted the same name through good times and tough ones, including the Canterbury earthquakes, which hit New Brighton particularly hard.

Through it all, Storer Motors stayed put. No moving away, no chasing a different market. Just a continued commitment to New Brighton and the people who call it home.

What the Next 50 Years Look Like for Storer Motors

Storer Motors isn't slowing down. The dealership continues to stock a wide range of quality used vehicles, from hatchbacks and sedans to SUVs, alongside flexible finance options and fair trade-in valuations. The workshop keeps investing in the latest equipment so Christchurch

drivers get the same standard of service today as they always have.

Fifty years in, Storer Motors is still doing what it's always done: looking after New Brighton, one vehicle and one customer at a time.

Still Part of the Neighbourhood

If you've driven past the yard a hundred times and never popped in, or if your family's been

coming here for generations, the door's always open. Come say hello, ask a question, or bring the car in for a check. That's what fifty years in New Brighton is really about.
